Seether has officially released the music video for Careless Whisper and it would have been tough to make it any more random.
They stay true to the 8-bit game genre by inserting themselves and some other recognizable characters into a pseudo Seether game.
The video is inspired by retro video games and features some “animated cameos”, see if you can guess them all!
The song is not as heavy as some songs off their earlier albums, but stays true to the sound of the better rock tracks on Minutes to Midnight.

Checkout the New Divide trailer for a small glimpse into the making of the song.
Linkin Park – New Divide Lyrics
I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me
I remembered each flash as time began to blur
Like a startling sign that fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard
Did I get what I deserve?
So give me reason to prove me wrong to wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this up, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies
Across this new divide
There was nothing inside, the memories left abandoned
There was no where to hide the ashes fell like snow
And the ground caved in between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard
Did I get what I deserve?
So give me reason to prove me wrong to wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross the distance in your eyes
Across this new divide
In every loss in every lie in every truth that you deny
And each regret and each divide was some mistake too great to hide
And your voice was all I heard
Did I get what I deserve?
So give me reason to prove me wrong to wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this up, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies
Across this new divide
Across this new divide
Across this new divide
Don’t listen to the radio anymore? Do you get your music fix from your iPod, but in turn never keep up to date on the current radio singles? Well I present to you the first installment of This Week In Rock Radio where I will highlight a couple of the standout singles just released.
This Weeks Highlights
Nickelback – Burn It To The Ground This week Nickelback sends another hard hitting track to radio from their multi-platinum album, Dark Horse. No matter what critics say, these guys know how to write hits and not just the mellow ones.
Kicking off this summer on 7.1.09 in Peoria, IL Shinedown is presenting their Stimulate This Tour.
“We’ve always said that we, as a band, only answer to one boss…and that’s everyone in the audience. It’s our job…our privilege to offer our fans an escape. Teaming up with these other great bands, we’re doing what we can to help lift everyone’s spirits in these tough times…the power of music can do that.” – Brent Smith
They have teamed up with Staind, Chevelle, and Halestorm to present a tour that offers “maximum value at a minimal price.” At each stop you can expect discounted ticket prices, concession discounts, store discounts at local retailers, and online rebates for band merchandise.
When a rock band covers a song, no matter what I think of the original song, I have got to give it a listen. Cover songs are definitely my weakness.
Seether doesn’t disappoint with their rendition of what they say is one of their faves from the 80’s, George Michael’s Careless Whisper.
It was a pleasure to record our interpretation of the song as it has been a personal favorite ever since they played the hell out of that song is South Africa during the 80’s.
You can buy it right now on iTunes, or check it out on their Myspace.
Day of Fire is giving a gift to their fans this holiday season by offering a free download of their brand new track Never Goodbye. It is from their upcoming, yet to be titled, CD.
You gotta love free tunes! Usually it’s just a single track off of a current album, a miscellaneous live track, or an acoustic version of a hit.
Well Ra goes even further than that by releasing their entire 2006 live release, Raw (except one bonus track) for free download. (the missing track is Don’t Turn Away)
But the free tracks don’t stop there, you can also download acoustic versions of both Rectifier and their most recent single Broken Hearted Soul, from their disc Black Sun (it’s available now).
I don’t know how long they’ll be available so go download all the tracks now (an email signup required, but hey, it’s free tunes, and you can always just give ‘em a fake address!) :-)
Clint Lowery, of Sevendust and Dark New Day fame, recently spent some of his down time recording tracks for a new solo side project, Hello Demons Meet Skeletons. The Chills EP is available now with proceeds from the sales going to the Make A Wish Foundation.
In just 10 days he recorded the 6 track EP, writing and performing all tracks himself, with producing, engineering, and mixing duties going to his brother Corey Lowery.
Hello Demons..Meet skeletons was a phrase used to described what happened to a life when all the demons in someone’s life came head to head with the skeletons one can accumulate in life. This project was created to unload the demons and skeletons in my life. A way to lyrically touch on subjects that needed to be touched on in order to move forward with my life and leave the past behind without completely forgetting it.
The EP is not heavy hitting as you may expect from the Sevendust shredder, instead it’s a very melodic acoustic EP showcasing his amazing vocals that are in a way reminiscent of melodic Stone Sour tracks.
You can pick up a digital copy on iTunes or a physical copy in the HDMS store. Also, there are 2 additional tracks not on the EP (Kicking Tree and Bitter) available only through his Myspace page. With proceeds from the sales going to the Make A Wish Foundation it’s basically a no brainer, get yours now.
